Allergy & Immunology EHR Integration Software
Connect the allergy EHR to billing so test counts, shots, vial builds, biologic doses and lung tests become charges without re-keying.
Allergy & Immunology EHR Integration Software connects the EHR an allergy practice already uses to Unlimited Systems billing. Demographics, appointments, test counts, shot records, vial builds, biologic doses and lung tests flow across as they happen, so each documented service becomes a charge without anyone typing it again.

EHR Integration in a Allergy & Immunology Practice
The EHR is where allergy care is recorded, and billing depends on it line by line. A skin test panel is charted as a count of tests, which must leave out the positive and negative controls. A shot visit records the injection and the vial it came from. A vial build sets the number of 95165 doses. A biologic visit records the drug, the units given and any amount discarded. Spirometry and FeNO results reach the chart from the testing devices. Unlimited Systems links to the allergy EHR with ready-made interfaces or HL7 and FHIR feeds. Patient and insurance updates flow both ways. Charges arrive with the units and modifiers the record supports, so a Medicare biologic dose with waste arrives as two lines. Data moves as it is entered, not in a nightly batch. Each new interface proves itself in a sandbox before any live data flows, and wider exchange with labs and payers is covered under allergy interoperability.
Why Is EHR Integration Different in Allergy & Immunology?
Allergy charges are counts, and counts are easy to get wrong in transit. Test units are reported per test, and Medicare does not count controls. If the EHR sends the total number of sites placed, the claim overstates the tests. The integration has to carry the count the record supports, not a number someone retypes from a test sheet.
Some allergy charges are not tied to a visit at all. Antigen preparation is billed when a vial is built, as 95165 doses, while the shots from that vial are billed at later visits as 95115 or 95117. Billing needs both events from the EHR, kept apart. An interface that only sends visit charges misses the vial build entirely.
Biologics raise the stakes on each line. The EHR records the drug, the dose and any discarded amount. Under Medicare Part B, a dose with waste bills as one line for the units given and a second line with JW for the units discarded. EHR integration in an allergy practice has to carry both numbers, or the claim is wrong before it is ever sent.
What Allergy & Immunology EHR Integration Software Handles
- Test counts without controls
- NCCI does not let positive or negative controls count as allergy tests. Test counts arrive from the EHR as the number of allergen tests, so 95004 and 95024 units match the record. (CMS NCCI Policy Manual for Medicare Services 2026, Chapter XI (allergy testing))
- Vial builds as 95165 charges
- Medicare bills the doses planned when a vial is prepared. A vial build in the EHR sends a 95165 charge with its planned dose count, apart from the shot visits that follow. (Medicare Claims Processing Manual, Chapter 12, Section 200: Allergy Testing and Immunotherapy)
- Injection-only shot codes
- For Medicare, injections are billed with 95115 or 95117 apart from antigen codes, since 95120 through 95134 are not valid. The shot record sends the injection code alone, and antigen doses come from the vial build. (Medicare Claims Processing Manual, Chapter 12, Section 200: Allergy Testing and Immunotherapy)
- Biologic dose and waste lines
- Under Medicare Part B, a single-dose container dose with waste bills as two lines: units given with no modifier and units discarded with JW. The administration record in the EHR sends both numbers. (CMS JW and JZ Modifier Policy FAQs)
- Patient, scheduling and charge messages in HL7 v2
- Patient updates, appointments and charges move as HL7 v2 messages. Shot clinic appointments and testing visits sync with billing as they are booked or changed. (HL7 Version 2 Product Suite)
- FHIR resources
- Where the EHR supports FHIR, patient, coverage and encounter data can move through FHIR APIs instead of flat files. (HL7 FHIR Release 4)
How Does Allergy & Immunology EHR Integration Software Work?
1. Connect the EHR
A pre-built connector or an HL7 or FHIR feed links the allergy EHR to billing. The practice keeps the EHR its clinicians already use.
2. Sync patients and visits
Demographics, insurance and appointments flow both ways as they change. A shot visit booked in one system appears in the other.
3. Send charges from the record
Test counts, shot codes, vial builds, biologic doses and lung tests arrive as charge lines with their units. They land in allergy charge assembly for coding.
4. Carry waste and modifiers
Discarded drug units and documented modifiers come across with each line. A Medicare biologic dose with waste arrives as two lines, one with JW.
5. Test before go-live
Every connection is trialed in a developer sandbox with test panels first, away from live records. A format checker fixes common syntax problems in HL7 messages.
Allergy & Immunology EHR Integration Software vs. Generic Software
| Area | Generic approach | Unlimited Systems |
|---|---|---|
| Test counts | Retyped from a paper test sheet. | Sent from the record as allergen test counts. |
| Vial builds | Charged only if someone tells billing. | Each build sends a 95165 charge with planned doses. |
| Biologic waste | Waste units added by hand, if at all. | Given and discarded units sent as separate lines. |
| Timing | Nightly batch files. | Each charted shot or test crosses over as soon as it is saved. |
| New interfaces | Built and fixed in production. | Tested in a sandbox before go-live. |
Who Uses It in a Allergy & Immunology Practice
- Clinical staff: No double entry: shots, tests and vial builds charted once in the EHR reach billing on their own.
- Charge entry team: Charge lines that arrive with units and modifiers from the record, ready for claim edits before submission.
- IT or practice administrator: Interfaces tested in a sandbox before go-live, with interface traffic watched as it runs.
Allergy & Immunology EHR Integration Software FAQs
EHR integration sends demographics, insurance, appointments and charges from the allergy EHR to billing. Charges include test counts, shot codes, vial builds billed as 95165 doses, biologic doses with any discarded units, and lung tests such as spirometry and FeNO. Each arrives with the units the record supports, so staff do not retype it.
Practices keep the EHR their clinicians already use. Unlimited Systems connects to it through pre-built connectors or standard HL7 and FHIR feeds. Current connections include systems such as Modernizing Medicine, NextGen, eClinicalWorks, athenahealth, Cerner and Epic. An allergy EHR not on that list can still link up over those same standards.
A vial build in the EHR sends its own 95165 charge with the planned dose count. Under Medicare, that planned count is what gets billed, even if dose changes later make the vial last longer or run out sooner. The shots given from the vial are sent on their own at each visit.
The administration record carries the units given and any units discarded. Under Medicare Part B, those become two lines for single-dose container drugs: the dose with no modifier and the waste with JW. When nothing is discarded, the dose line carries JZ. Both numbers come from the record, not from a separate log.
Data moves as it is entered, not in an overnight batch. A test panel charted in the morning can be on a charge line the same day. Patient and insurance changes also flow both ways, so the front desk and billing see the same record and work from the same facts.
Before go-live, every allergy interface is exercised in a developer sandbox using diagnostic test panels. Staff confirm that test counts, dose counts and modifiers map correctly. An automated format checker corrects common HL7 syntax issues, and interface traffic is monitored once the connection is live.
